This week will be my first week at the high school. Does anyone have any good advice about working with high school students? Until now I have been at the elementary school and I'm nervous about the high school setting.
You will do fine. Remember that high school students are just overgrown elementary students. They are still kids, just in a bigger body. They love receiving compliments and enjoy interacting with their peers. I think the best thing to consider when working with them is to remind yourself of what you were like at that age. Many high school students today are highly stressed. They carry a full academic schedule, in addition to working part-time jobs, participating in an array of extracurricular activities, and helping out with family responsibilities. They are busy little people.
